How FilterFit Verifies Air Purifier Filter Compatibility

FilterFit is built around a simple rule: a compatibility claim is not automatically a compatibility fact. We publish a US model-to-OEM-filter relationship only when an admissible source connects the two.

Step 1: identify the exact US device

We record the manufacturer, complete display model, normalized search variations, documented aliases, status, and US-region context. Hyphens and spacing can be normalized for search, but suffixes are not discarded merely because two devices look related.

Catalog terms found only in third-party sources are stored separately from manufacturer-confirmed aliases. This helps users find a record without presenting a seller’s wording as an official model name.

Step 2: anchor the OEM fitment

Grade A sources include current or archived manufacturer product pages, manuals, support articles, and official parts pages. Grade A- covers manufacturer-issued PDFs, catalogs, or parts lists that preserve the exact relationship. Grade B requires corroboration, such as a public certification record aligned with manufacturer-provided fitment material.

Retail-only and secondary claims can lead us to a source, but they do not independently create a verified database result. Every published filter family keeps a clean source URL, source type, and review date.

Step 3: isolate aftermarket claims

An aftermarket maker may state that its filter fits a device, and a marketplace seller may list the same claim. FilterFit labels who made the statement. Neither label means OEM approval, independent laboratory testing, or a recommendation from FilterFit.

We keep aftermarket candidate IDs separate from OEM filter-family IDs. This prevents a marketplace title or listing change from rewriting the trusted device-to-OEM relationship.

Step 4: preserve uncertainty

Official pages can conflict, part numbers can change, and legacy products can disappear. Instead of hiding those cases, we retain alternate numbers and review notes. A record is revisited when a source breaks, a user reports a problem, or new official evidence appears.

Prices and availability are not stored as fitment facts because they change quickly. Candidate ranking should reflect fit confidence, evidence quality, availability, and user value—not commission alone.

What verification does not mean

‘Manufacturer-listed’ describes the source of the relationship. It is not a laboratory test by FilterFit, a warranty promise, or a guarantee that a third-party seller will ship the correct item. Users should still compare the complete model number, region, part number, filter shape, and package contents before purchasing.

How this guide was prepared

Filter Fit separates compatibility evidence from purchase availability. Exact model identity, region, revision, and authoritative source scope are reviewed before a relationship is treated as verified.
